About the MESA Project

Education—both directly of children, and of parents and teachers — is currently the primary form of treatment for autistic spectrum disorders.

For over 20 years, the MESA Project (formerly Project PEAK) has provided technical support and professional development for educators and professionals that work with children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Our team brings together the combined experience of certified special education teachers, speech/language pathologists, occupational therapists, board certified behavior analysts, and psychologists. We work with existing professional development and technical assistance programs and local parent groups to support local efforts to build capacity and strengthen evidence based practices within school districts. Our technical assistance services are tailored to the needs of each individual school or district and can range from consultation for a single student to program modification or development district-wide.

We also offer a broad range of professional development opportunities through statewide trainings and workshops throughout the year. The trainings cover a broad range of ASD related topics and include everything from basic ASD awareness training to multi-day workshops that provide in-depth, hands on learning opportunities. These trainings are led by experience members of our School Support Services team as well as by nationally respected trainers, researchers, and clinicians.

More information on our professional development training and technical assistance services can be found on this website. You may also contact us for more information or to request a consultation or training for your school or district.
